GERSITOL UNNA
Unna Boot
Gersitol UNNA is an elastic bandage impregnated with Zinc Oxide, designed for the outpatient treatment of venous vascular ulcers and lymphedema. It consists of a cotton gauze bandage in a roll, which is easily stretchable and adapts to the contour of the leg while remaining flexible.
Indications
Outpatient treatment of chronic venous ulcers of the lower limbs and for the management of chronic edema. It can be used in the management of venous dermatitis and other conditions related to chronic venous insufficiency.
How to use
Wash the affected lower limb according to protocol, both the wound and the surrounding skin. Dry the surrounding skin and dress the wound bed as indicated.
Apply Gersitol UNNA by rolling the bandage evenly (overlapping half of the bandage below) over the affected limb. Keep the foot and ankle at the correct angle during application.
Apply a layer of bandage to the entire leg, covering it up to the knee. Gersitol UNNA should wrap the leg gently, avoiding gaps and folds.
A secondary bandage can be used to protect, secure, and/or add pressure. The choice of secondary bandage will depend on the desired outcome. This secondary bandage will help prevent the Unna boot from slipping off after application.
Presentations
7 m x 10 cm roll bandage.
Contraindications
Arterial and mixed (arterial/venous) ulcers, use in individuals with loss of sensation due to neuropathy, patients with immobility syndrome, and patients with severe arterial insufficiency.
It should not be used in individuals with a known sensitivity to the product or its components.
Precautions
The use of this product should be under the supervision of a healthcare professional.
If redness or skin irritation occurs, discontinue use of the product and consult a healthcare professional. It is important to assess arterial perfusion before applying the dressing to ensure there is no arterial compromise. Avoid applying it over infected ulcers or those with signs of cellulitis. Closely monitor the patient’s tolerance to prevent ischemia or excessive discomfort.
If signs of clinical infection appear, such as an unusual odor, a change in the color of the exudate, fever, or cellulitis (tenderness and swelling at the wound site), appropriate medical treatment should be initiated.
